Hottie Laila overtakes Babli Badmash in item shakes!

Laila has trumped Babli. Sunny Leone’s item number has beaten Priyanka Chopra’s dance in the race for popularity. The two special jigs are part of the same film, Shootout at Wadala. It is barely six days that Sunny’s raunchy item debutLaila was uploaded on the film’s official music page on YouTube, and the song has already garnered a whopping 73 lakh hits. In comparison, Priyanka’s retro- styled Babli badmaash, released a good 20 days ago, has only managed a count of 43 lakh so far.

The success of Laila proves what the industry has been noting all this while, in the wake of Katrina Kaif’s Chikni Chameli in Agneepath and Kareena Kapoor’s Fevicol se in Dabangg 2 last year. When it comes to item dances in ‘A’ certificate films, a touch of rustic oomph works best.

Sunny’s Laila number, in this context, takes the raunchy factor to another level. The song, loaded with suggestive lyrics, sees the Indo-Canadian porn star flaunt it without inhibition for the film, which is incidentally being touted as an action drama for the adult audience.

Priyanka’s Babli badmaash on the other hand is an Eighties- styled disco number, where the actress unsuccessfully tries paying a tribute to Amitabh Bachchan’s hit number from Yaarana,Saara zamana haseeno ka deewana. Incidentally, Priyanka is seen sporting a figure-hugging dress with micro-bulbs attached that is a straight copy of Big B’s costume in theYaarana number.

However, Babli Badmaash, like Sonakshi Sinha’s Thank God it’s Friday in the recent dud Himmatwala, has failed to create a flutter, proving that the audience overall is in no mood to accept retro dancing in Bollywood these days.

Set in a rustic background, Laila sees Sunny being wooed by John Abraham and Tusshar Kapoor.

Revealing and body hugging outfits expose Sunny showing off her sexy frame and toned bare legs, although the number involves very little dancing on her part. Sunny had displayed a similar sizzling style in a revealing outfit at a live performance at the public launch of her item number recently. She managed to charm her fans at the launch, thereby raising curiosity for the number.

Set in the Eighties, the Sanjay Gupta- directedShootout at Wadala accounts the real-life story of Manya Surve, played by John. In the song, John is seen wearing an outfit reminiscent Amitabh Bachchan’s attire in the song Jumma chumma de de from Hum- black trousers, white shirt and a red scarf.

The film is the sequel to 2007 film Shootout at Lokhandwala, and is based on the book Dongri to Dubai written by Hussain Zaidi.
